After college, Vincent Flumiani spent three months living out of his van and re-reading The Catcher in the Rye. The pastime's common; the result isn't. This fall, the 38-year-old Angeleno—who's designed for True Religion and Quiksilver—launches his decidedly Salingerian collection, Caulfield Preparatory. Naming your line after a literary malcontent is a big gesture, but in Flumiani's vision, Holden's a pretty well-dressed guy: Think slim-proportioned three-piece cord and cotton suits, and pre-wrinkled, tab-collar button-downs. We especially liked a Scotch plaid rain jacket made from umbrella nylon. (The matching brollies will be exclusive to Bloomingdale's.)

"I've always wanted to be part of a collection that's a story," says Flumiani—so he went ahead and wrote one, which is attached to each garment. As it turns out, that may be a task best left to the pros. "I'm not a writer, so finishing the story has been a lot harder than designing the collection."

Cool Brits (and cool everybody, really) get the charms of an Aston Martin. Bond drives one. So does Michael Caine in The Italian Job. And so, soon, may (wait for it) London bus drivers. A collaboration between Foster + Partners and AM tied for first prize in London mayor Boris Johnson's competition to redesign the city's buses, and their winning design—powered by electric motor, outfitted with skylights, and lower to the ground for easier handicap accessibility—is now with manufacturers for finalization and prototyping. If all goes well, the buses may be on the streets as soon as 2011.

The latest turnover on the Bowery: Keith Haring's Bowery Mural, which was originally painted in the eighties and re-created by the artist's foundation to celebrate what would have been his 50th birthday last year. Now the wall—prime real estate, these days—is being taken over by Haring's fellow graffiti-inspired artists (and Deitch Gallery stable mates) the Brazilian twins Os Gemeos. Animal New Yorkcaught the duo hard at work on their own installation (above).

Meanwhile, the mural isn't the only former Haring project in the news. Last week Swatch debuted the latest in its CreART series of artist collaborations. (Haring contributed designs in the eighties, like this '86 model.) Cartoon-influenced styles by Dutch designer Ted Scapa, French street artist Grems, New Yorker Matthew Langille, and Billy the Artist recall the bounce and verve of early Haring work. They're not as boardroom-friendly as some other timepieces we could mention, but they should be just fine at the next Deitch opening. Odds are, if you're a die-hard Haring acolyte, you're not all that boardroom-friendly, either.

Midsummer is a little early to be thinking about autumn sweaters, but the first fall deliveries are beginning to hit stores. An early favorite: Pendleton's bear-totem cardigan. The company's signature Navajo prints have been everywhere over the last year, with no sign of abating anytime soon—another season of collaboration with Opening Ceremony should see to that. One-upping the trend with an animal totem rather than a Native American print will put you ahead of the crowd, and any good luck wearing your spirit-creature may bring you on top of that is just gravy.

Junya Watanabe's love affair with American workwear is by now the stuff of legend. Over the years, he's gussied up many a utilitarian staple with his reversible, remixed-and-matched aesthetic, borrowing liberally from the sartorial, the uniform, and the outdoors. They've got some more growing to do to catch up with the iTunes App Store, but still: RIM has announced that after less than four months in existence, the BlackBerry App World now boasts 2,000 options—twice as many as when it launched. For the most part, that means BlackBerry users now waste time exactly like iPhone addicts, with apps for Facebook, Twitter, Pandora, Google Maps, and the rest of the frequent-fliers. BlackBerry exclusives, like Poynt (which "points" you in the direction of cool things you've searched for nearby), are well worth a spin, though they usually have iPhone equivalents. And if you're still feeling iPhone-covetous, there's the bPhone app, which makes your CrackBerry look just like the Jobs model. All in all, iPhoners still have 53,732 more apps to choose from…for better or worse. Crazy Penguin Catapult? Currently a best seller.
